Sparkster is a sidescrolling platformer released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1994. Developed by Konami, Sparkster puts you in control of its titular character, an opossum rocket knight who wears metallic armor and wields both a flame-tipped lance and a powerful jet pack. Sparkster must save the kingdom of Zebulos from its invading forces. The game's visuals are bright and vibrant, with detailed sprites showcasing the unique level designs. The soundtrack evokes the classic feel of 8-bit adventure games.
The object of Sparkster is to battle your way through six different levels as you rid Zebulos of its enemy forces using your trusty lance and jet pack abilities. You'll jump over obstacles, dodge flaming projectiles and other hazards that stand in your way as you face off against bosses at the end of each stage. Defeated enemies will drop coins or rings which can be used to purchase helpful items at various stores scattered throughout the levels. These items can range from health restoring potions and additional rocket fuel to upgrades for your weapon, jetpack or even your armor – making you stronger than ever before!
Throughout your journey, you'll encounter various puzzles which must be solved in order to progress further into the level. By activating switches and pushing blocks around, you'll create new pathways to explore or clear obstacles blocking your path forward. As well as these single player segments there are also two-player competitive party modes available where players take turns competing for stages until only one remains standing!
While playing through Sparkster, expect plenty of action filled moments including thrilling boss fights where quick thinking is needed in order to survive. With tight controls and varied level designs combined with sporadic power ups, this is a complete gaming experience sure to keep players coming back for more!
