The game features 8 teams from Major League Baseball (MLB): Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, California Angels, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Oakland Athletics and Toronto Blue Jays.
The game follows the traditional rules of baseball with some minor differences. The player can choose between playing an exhibition match or a full season. In exhibition mode, the player can select two teams to face off against each other in a single game. In season mode, the player plays each team in a full 9 inning game over a span of several weeks.
The gameplay in World Series Baseball ‘95 is relatively simple but still manages to capture the excitement of a real baseball game. Players are able to control all aspects of their team such as batting order and pitching rotation. The player controls their pitcher by choosing which pitch they want to throw and then controlling their aim by using the directional pad on the Game Gear controller. Similarly, players control their batters by pressing buttons to swing or bunt depending on what type of hit they wish to make.
The visuals in World Series Baseball ’95 are quite basic but still manage to provide an enjoyable experience for players. The field is represented as an overhead view with sprites representing both teams’ players as well as umpires and ball boys. The graphics are blocky but they still manage to convey an accurate representation of the sport which adds to the overall atmosphere of the game.
Overall, World Series Baseball ’95 is an enjoyable sports title that captures many of the elements that make baseball exciting while still providing enough depth for more experienced players who want a challenge. Although its graphics may be dated by today’s standards it still manages to provide an entertaining experience that will appeal to fans of all ages and skill levels alike.
