Magic Knight Rayearth is a Sega Game Gear video game based on the manga and anime series of the same name. The game was released in 1995 for the Sega Game Gear in Japan, Europe, and North America.

The story follows three schoolgirls from Tokyo, Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji as they are transported to a fantasy world called Cephiro. In this world, the girls learn that they have been chosen by the Pillar of Cephiro, Princess Emeraude, to become Magic Knights and save her kingdom from destruction. The three girls must use their newfound magical powers to battle monsters and evil forces that threaten Cephiro. Along the way they will meet allies such as Mokona Modoki, who will help them on their quest.

The game is an action-adventure RPG with some puzzle elements thrown in. Players control one of the three main characters at a time while exploring dungeons filled with enemies and puzzles that must be solved to progress through the story. As players explore dungeons they will find items such as weapons and armor which can help them in battle. In addition to exploring dungeons players will also go on side-quests where they can gain valuable experience points and new equipment which can be used in battle or sold for money.

Players will also engage in turn-based battles against monsters using their magical powers called "Rayearth". In order to win battles players must carefully manage their magic points while attacking enemies with powerful spells or special attacks like "Rayearth Slash". Winning battles will reward players with experience points which can be used to level up characters or purchase new equipment from shops found throughout Cephiro.

As players progress through the game they will eventually reach a point where Princess Emeraude's fate hangs in the balance between good and evil forces. At this point it is up to players to decide how each of their characters will act: either choosing light or darkness depending on how they want their story to end. Once this decision has been made then it is up to them to complete all remaining tasks before facing off against the final boss monster – Zagato – who holds Emeraude hostage!
