Tengai Makyou Zero (also known as Far East of Eden: The Apocalypse IV) is a role-playing video game developed by Red Company and published by Hudson Soft for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. It was the fourth installment in the Tengai Makyou series, which is a subseries of the wider Far East of Eden franchise.

The game takes place in a fictionalized version of feudal Japan known as Jipang, where humans coexist with demons and other supernatural creatures. After centuries of darkness and strife, Jipang is on the brink of destruction due to an ancient evil that has been unleashed upon the land. The player takes control of one of four characters – Kojiroh Sanada, Momotaro Tsurugi, Hyuuga Ryuuji, or Yuzo Kita – who must set out on a quest to save Jipang from ruin.

Gameplay consists primarily of exploring dungeons and fighting enemies in turn-based battles. Combat is largely menu-driven and involves selecting commands such as attacking or using items from a list. As players progress through the game they can acquire new weapons and armor to increase their stats and gain access to special abilities. The game also features an elemental system where certain elementally-aligned attacks are more effective against certain enemies; this encourages strategic use of elemental attacks and defense against incoming enemy attacks. In addition to combat, players can also explore towns, purchase items from stores, talk to NPCs for information or quests, and find hidden secrets throughout the world.

The story is told mostly through cutscenes between major plot points; these scenes usually involve dialogue between characters or narration about events unfolding in Jipang’s history. Players can also learn more about the world and its inhabitants by talking to NPCs in towns or reading books found throughout dungeons.

Overall, Tengai Makyou Zero is an enjoyable RPG that offers plenty of content for fans of both story-driven games and dungeon crawlers alike. With its unique setting, engaging combat system, detailed visuals, and expansive world filled with secrets waiting to be discovered, this SNES classic stands as one of the best RPGs ever released on the system.
