SeaQuest DSV is a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game released in 1994 by Ocean Software. This underwater adventure game puts players in the role of a submarine captain as they explore the depths of the ocean. Players are tasked with completing various missions and exploring strange and mysterious sea creatures. The game was praised for its detailed graphics, realistic sound effects and engaging gameplay.
The player takes on the role of Captain Nathan Bridger, a former Navy Commander who has been given command of an experimental nuclear-powered submarine called the SeaQuest DSV (Deep Submergence Vehicle). The mission is to explore the depths of the ocean, discover new species of sea life, and protect them from any danger they may encounter. Along the way, Nathan must complete various missions that involve rescuing stranded divers, fighting hostile submarines and giant sea monsters, and gathering valuable artifacts from sunken ships. All this while avoiding obstacles such as mines, whirlpools, rocks and other hazards along the way.
The game features five distinct levels that take place in different parts of the world: The Caribbean Sea, The Arctic Ocean, The Mediterranean Sea, The Indian Ocean and The Pacific Ocean. Each area contains unique creatures to discover as well as challenging puzzles to solve in order to progress through each level.
Players control Nathan’s submarine using an intuitive control system designed specifically for SNES controllers. Movement is controlled via directional buttons on one side while depth charges can be launched with a button on the other side of the controller. Other controls include speed settings for forward motion and turning left or right when navigating narrow passages or tight corners.
As players progress through each level they will come across bonus points which can be used to upgrade their sub’s weapons systems and fuel capacity as well as purchase additional items such as sonar buoys or torpedoes. Additionally there are also hidden Easter eggs scattered throughout each level which will reward players with extra points or energy if found.
Overall SeaQuest DSV is an enjoyable underwater adventure that offers a unique gaming experience for SNES fans looking for something different than traditional platformers or shooters available at the time. Its detailed graphics create an immersive underwater environment while its intricate control system adds an extra layer of challenge to an already entertaining experience worth exploring again today!
