Chester Cheetah: Too Cool to Fool is a classic side-scrolling platformer released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991. Developed by KID and published by Kaneko, it follows Chester Cheetah, the mascot of Frito Lay’s Cheetos brand, as he attempts to stop the evil Mad Scientist from turning all of his friends into robots.
The gameplay consists of navigating Chester through nine levels filled with enemies and obstacles. The player can jump, duck, and throw fireballs at their foes in order to progress through each level. Along the way, Chester can also pick up power-ups that grant him additional abilities such as invincibility or increased speed. Additionally, there are hidden bonus levels throughout the game that provide extra points when completed.
Chester Cheetah: Too Cool to Fool features bright and colorful graphics with detailed sprites for both characters and environments. The soundtrack is similarly upbeat and catchy, providing an appropriate backdrop for the action on screen.
In addition to the main single-player mode, there are also two multiplayer modes available in which two players can compete against one another using split-screen visuals. One mode pits two players against each other on a single course while the other allows them to compete for high scores on separate courses simultaneously.
Overall, Chester Cheetah: Too Cool to Fool is an enjoyable and challenging platformer that still holds up today despite its age. It offers plenty of replay value thanks to its various modes and hidden bonuses, making it a great choice for fans of classic SNES titles or those looking for a unique gaming experience from back in the day.
