They must also build up an army with officers who specialize in different types of warfare such as infantry or cavalry. Each officer has unique attributes that affect how they perform on the battlefield. Other features include diplomatic negotiations with other rulers and special events that can be triggered by certain actions taken by players during the game.

The player’s ultimate goal is to achieve unification of China under their rule. To do this they must conquer all rival warlords and gain control over all provinces in China through diplomacy or warfare. Once this has been accomplished, players are given the title “Emperor” and are presented with an ending cinematic sequence showing them being crowned Emperor of China.
