It is the sequel to the original Pocky & Rocky, which was released in 1992. The game follows two young shrine keepers, Pocky and Rocky, as they battle their way through various levels filled with monsters in order to save the world from an evil spirit called Goeniko.

The game features two characters to choose from: Pocky and Rocky. Players can switch between them at any time during gameplay. It also features two-player co-op mode where both players can take control of either character while fighting alongside one another against enemies onscreen.
