Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius is a shoot-em-up video game developed and published by Konami for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in Japan in 1995, and later localized for North America and Europe. The game is part of the Parodius series of games, which are parodies of the Gradius series.
The player takes control of one of five characters (Penguin, Vic Viper, TwinBee, Lord British, or Pentarou) as they navigate through nine stages that have them fighting off various enemies and obstacles. Each stage has its own unique theme such as a pirate ship or an amusement park. The player must use their character’s weapons to defeat enemies and progress through the stage. As with other shoot-em-up games, power-ups can be collected throughout each stage which can increase their character’s speed or give them additional weapons. Upon reaching the end of each stage, the player must face off against a boss enemy before progressing to the next level.
Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius features numerous references to other Konami franchises such as Castlevania and Ganbare Goemon. The game also includes several minigames that can be accessed from certain levels which offer extra points if completed successfully. Additionally, players can select between two difficulty settings: Normal or Hard.
In addition to its single-player mode, Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius also supports two-player cooperative play via a link cable connection between two SNES consoles. In this mode, both players take control of one character each and must work together to complete each stage and defeat enemies more quickly than in single-player mode.
Overall Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius is a fun shoot-em up game for fans of classic arcade games looking for some nostalgic action on their SNES console
