Clock Tower is a survival-horror point-and-click adventure video game developed by Human Entertainment and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. It was one of the first horror games to be released on a home console, and as such was highly influential in the genre. The game follows the story of Jennifer Simpson, a young orphan who is being pursued by an unstoppable killer known as Bobby Barrows. Jennifer must explore her surroundings and solve puzzles in order to stay alive while trying to uncover the mystery behind her pursuer.

The game is set in England in the late 19th century and is divided into five chapters that take place over the course of three days. Players take control of Jennifer as she explores various locations, including an old mansion, a clock tower, a hospital, an abandoned mine and an underground cave. As she progresses through each chapter, Jennifer must find items that can help her survive or advance her progress further; these items can range from keys to unlock doors to documents containing information about Bobby Barrows’ past. Along with this, she must also avoid enemies such as ghosts, rats and spiders that will try to harm her if given the chance.

Throughout Clock Tower’s five chapters, players must use their wits to figure out how to progress further while still avoiding harm from Bobby Barrows or other enemies. In some cases, players may need to hide under furniture or lock themselves inside closets in order to avoid detection. Additionally, they can also use certain items they find throughout their journey such as scissors or fire extinguishers in order to fend off enemies if necessary. As players progress further through each chapter they will also come across various cutscenes which provide more background information about Bobby Barrows’ past and his motivations for hunting down Jennifer Simpson.

At its core Clock Tower is a horror-adventure game that requires players to think strategically in order to survive while still progressing forward with their investigation. With its innovative gameplay mechanics, unique setting and engaging story it has become one of the most influential games within the survival-horror genre and has been cited as an influence on numerous titles since its release such as Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Silent Hill (1999).
