Barbarossa is a side-scrolling action-adventure game developed and published by Seta Corporation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in Japan on December 15, 1995, and in North America on August 1, 1996. The game follows the adventures of two protagonists: the warrior Barbarossa and the mage Marduk. Together they must journey across a mysterious world and battle their way through hordes of monsters to save it from destruction.

The player controls Barbarossa as he battles enemies using his sword and various magical spells. Along the way, he can pick up various items such as weapons, armor, and food which will help him in his quest. As Barbarossa progresses through the game, he gains experience points which can be used to upgrade his abilities such as attack power, defense rating, and magical strength. He also acquires new weapons and armor from defeated enemies or purchased from shops throughout the game world.

Barbarossa's main goal is to locate four elemental stones scattered across the land. These stones are necessary for him to gain access to the Dark Tower where he must confront and defeat an evil sorcerer known as Dark Lord Xelos who seeks to use them for his own nefarious purposes.

The game features several mini-games which can be accessed at certain points throughout the adventure; these include fishing, gambling at card games, playing music instruments, and more. Barbarossa also has several allies that accompany him during his journey including a talking cat named Kiki who provides helpful hints along with comic relief.

Overall Barbarossa is an enjoyable action-adventure title with some unique elements such as its characters and mini-games that make it stand out from other SNES games of its time period. Its charming visuals coupled with its engaging story create an immersive gaming experience that fans of classic RPGs will appreciate.
