Times of Lore is a classic action-adventure game that was released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
Developed by Origin Systems and published by Ultra Games, the title was part of a series of games based on TSR's Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) role-playing game.
Times of Lore is an overhead-perspective action-adventure game that puts players in control of a character who is sent out to save his kingdom from an evil force.
The main objective of the game is to explore different areas, battle monsters, collect items, and complete various quests.
The player begins by creating their own character by selecting their race, gender, class, and alignment.
The character can choose from four races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, or Halfling; three classes: Fighter, Cleric or Magic User; and two alignments: lawful or chaotic.
Each race has its own strengths and weaknesses which affect the way the character interacts with NPCs throughout the game.
For example, Elves are more agile than Humans but less strong; Dwarves are stronger than Elves but slower; and Halflings are small but have greater agility than the other races.
Additionally, each class has its own set of skills which will come in handy during certain parts of the game.
Fighters use weapons to combat enemies while Clerics rely on magic spells to heal allies or damage enemies.
Magic Users can cast powerful spells that can either hurt or help depending on how they are used.
Once a character has been created they must then set out on their quest to save their kingdom from an evil force known as Chaosbane and his minions.
There are six main areas to explore in Times of Lore including towns where players can purchase equipment and upgrade weapons; dungeons filled with monsters; forests where magical creatures lurk; castles filled with traps and puzzles; swamps inhabited by dangerous creatures; and wilderness regions inhabited by wild animals.
As players progress through each area they will encounter enemies such as orcs, goblins, trolls, dragons, giant spiders and many more.
Defeating these foes will earn experience points which can be used to level up characters’ stats such as strength or dexterity.
Additionally completing certain quests will award gold coins which can be used to purchase better equipment at shops located in towns throughout the world.
In addition to exploring different areas there are several side-quests available throughout Times of Lore which offer rewards such as experience points or items if completed successfully.
These tasks range from finding hidden treasure chests to slaying powerful beasts that guard them so it’s important for players to take time out between exploring dungeons and towns in order to complete these quests as well as gain valuable loot that may help them later on in their journey .
Overall Times of Lore offers an enjoyable action-adventure experience for NES fans looking for something new back when it was first released in 1988 .
With its varied environments , interesting characters , exciting battles , challenging puzzles , plenty of secrets , side quests ,and rewarding loot Times Of Lore remains one of Origin System's most beloved titles even today
