Thunderbirds is a classic video game based on the 1960s British television series of the same name. It was released in 1985 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game was developed by Ocean Software and published by Konami.
The objective of the game is to help International Rescue, an organization that helps people in danger, complete their missions successfully. The player takes control of one of five characters from the show: Scott Tracy, Virgil Tracy, Alan Tracy, Gordon Tracy and John Tracy. Each character has different abilities and must be used strategically throughout the game.
The game consists of six levels which must be completed in succession. In each level, the player must navigate through a maze-like structure while avoiding enemies and obstacles such as pits, spikes and moving platforms. Some levels also have specific objectives such as rescuing a person or destroying enemy vehicles. Once all six levels are completed, the player will face off against The Hood in order to win the game.
Gameplay is relatively simple but can become challenging at times due to the variety of enemies present in each level. Enemies range from harmless robots to more powerful foes such as tanks and helicopters which can take multiple hits before being destroyed. Players must use their wits as well as their skills with the controller to survive each level and progress through the game.
The graphics are basic but still hold up well today given its age. The sound effects are also quite good considering it was released on an 8-bit system like NES. Overall, Thunderbirds provides an enjoyable experience for fans of the show or anyone looking for a classic platformer experience on NES.
