Roger Clemens MVP Baseball is a baseball video game developed by Sculptured Software and published by LJN for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988. The game was one of the earliest baseball games released for the NES and featured an impressive array of features and gameplay options.
The game featured a unique control scheme with two different button configurations: one for batting, and one for pitching. For batting, the A button was used to swing the bat, while the B button was used to bunt. The D-pad was used to move your player around the field. For pitching, A and B were used to select pitches, while the D-pad was used to aim them. Players also had access to a variety of special moves such as curveballs and fastballs.
The game featured an impressive roster of 24 teams from both major leagues in North America - including teams like the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays - as well as several international teams such as Mexico and Japan. Each team could be customized with up to 25 players (15 batters, 10 pitchers) chosen from a pool of over 300 real-life players. This allowed gamers to create their own dream teams or recreate classic lineups from years past.
In addition to single-player mode, Roger Clemens MVP Baseball also offered two-player head-to-head play via a link cable or modem adapter (which also allowed online play). There were several gameplay modes available including Exhibition (single game), Season (full season with playoffs) and All Star Game (pitting two all star teams against each other). The game also featured several difficulty levels that impacted how quickly batters reacted to pitches, how good fielders were at catching balls etc., allowing players of varying skill levels to enjoy it equally.
Overall, Roger Clemens MVP Baseball was an extremely popular baseball video game on the NES due its great graphics, unique controls, deep roster customization options and wide variety of gameplay modes. It helped set the standard for future baseball games on console systems and remains a classic among fans today.
