R.B.I. Baseball 2 is a baseball game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988. Developed by Atari Games and Tengen, it was the second installment in the R.B.I. Baseball series, and was designed to be a more realistic simulation of Major League Baseball than its predecessor.

The game features all 26 teams from the 1988 season, including their respective rosters and statistics for each player - such as batting average, home runs, stolen bases, etc. Players can choose from a variety of modes including Exhibition Mode (single game), Season Mode (full season with playoffs), Playoffs Mode (best-of-seven series) and All-Star Game Mode (East vs West). In addition to these standard game modes, players can also create their own custom leagues featuring up to eight teams and customize the rules to their liking.

Gameplay consists of two-dimensional overhead views of both the infield and outfield, allowing players to see all of the action at once. The camera angle can be adjusted by pressing either left or right on the control pad during play or when selecting a team before a game begins; this allows players to get different perspectives of the field depending on their preferences or strategies they may want to employ during gameplay.

Pitching is done using an action meter system that requires players to time their button presses precisely in order to accurately throw pitches; if timed correctly, pitchers can throw various types of pitches such as fastballs, curves, sliders and changeups with varying levels of speed and break depending on how well they are timed. Batting is also done using an action meter system which requires players to time their button presses in order to hit balls effectively; like pitching, timing is key as it can result in either hits or strikeouts depending on how well it’s executed.

In addition to regular gameplay mechanics such as fielding grounders and fly balls or stealing bases, R.B.I Baseball 2 also has some unique features that set it apart from other baseball games at the time such as “Home Run Derby” mode where players compete against one another in a contest of who can hit the most home runs within allotted time; “Pinch Hitter” mode which allows players to make strategic substitutions mid-game; and “Instant Replay” mode which allows players to rewatch plays after they have been completed – perfect for those looking for extra practice or getting replays for memorable moments during games!

Overall, RBI Baseball 2 is an enjoyable sports simulation that offers a realistic representation of Major League Baseball while providing plenty of options for customization – whether you want a quick pick up game or an entire season full of competition! With its intuitive controls and simple yet effective visuals, it remains one of the best baseball games ever released for NES systems!
