Quattro Arcade is a collection of four classic arcade games for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was released in Japan in 1987 and in North America in 1988. The game features two-player simultaneous play, allowing gamers to challenge each other or team up against computer opponents. Quattro Arcade includes four popular classic arcade games: Space Invaders, Donkey Kong Jr., Galaga, and Pac-Man.
Space Invaders was originally released by Taito Corporation in 1978 and is credited with popularizing video games worldwide. This version of the game has been faithfully recreated for the NES. Players take control of a lone laser cannon at the bottom of the screen and must defend their base from an alien invasion by shooting down descending rows of aliens before they reach the ground. As enemies are eliminated, more powerful aliens will appear as players progress through increasingly difficult levels.
Donkey Kong Jr. is another classic Nintendo title that was first released in 1982. Players control Donkey Kong’s son as he attempts to rescue his father from Mario’s grip atop a series of platforms filled with obstacles such as fireballs, birds, and vines. To move between platforms, players must use ladders to climb up or jump down from one platform to another while avoiding Mario’s attacks or falling into pits below them.
Galaga is a space shooter developed by Namco that was first released in 1981 which has seen numerous ports since its original release on arcade cabinets worldwide. Players control a spaceship at the bottom of the screen while waves of enemy ships fly across the top attempting to shoot it down with their lasers or bombs. Players must shoot down as many enemies as possible while avoiding enemy fire or being captured by an enemy tractor beam which can be used against them if they are not rescued quickly enough by other friendly ships onscreen .
Pac-Man was originally released by Namco in 1980 and has become one of the most iconic video games ever made due to its simple yet addictive gameplay and recognisable characters and visuals. In this version, players take control of Pac-Man as he navigates through a maze filled with ghosts while eating pellets scattered around each level to score points and earn extra lives. Power pellets allow Pac-Man to temporarily turn all ghosts blue giving him time to eat them for bonus points before they return back to their original colour after a few seconds have passed .
Overall, Quattro Arcade is an excellent collection featuring some timeless classics perfect for both casual gamers looking for some quick fun or hardcore fans wanting to relive their childhood memories playing these beloved titles again on modern hardware like the NES console . With two player simultaneous play available for each game included plus faithful recreations that stay true to their original versions , Quattro Arcade is sure to please any fan of retro gaming looking for some classic arcade action on Nintendo’s 8-bit console .
