Milon’s Secret Castle is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1986.
It was one of the first games to be released on the NES, and has since become a cult classic.
The game follows the adventures of Milon, an elf who must explore an enchanted castle in order to rescue Princess Eliza from an evil wizard.
Players take control of Milon as he navigates through the castle's many rooms and levels, collecting items such as bombs and keys which are used to progress further into the castle.
Additionally, players can collect coins which can be spent at stores located throughout the castle, where they can purchase items such as health potions or new weapons.
The goal of each level is to reach its exit door while avoiding enemies and obstacles along the way.
The game is notable for its unique graphical style, featuring bright colors and cartoonish characters.
The gameplay is also quite different from most other platformers of its time; rather than simply jumping over obstacles or shooting enemies with weapons, Milon must use various items and strategies to progress through each level.
For instance, some doors may only open if certain items are used on them; others require Milon to stand in specific locations or perform certain actions in order to progress further into the castle.
Milon’s Secret Castle was generally well-received upon release; critics praised its colorful visuals and challenging gameplay.
Despite this positive reception however, the game has since become somewhat obscure due to its limited availability; it was only released in North America before being re-released on Virtual Console in 2009.
Nevertheless, it remains a cult classic among retro gamers who appreciate its unique style and gameplay mechanics
