Master Chu and the Drunken Hu is an action-adventure video game developed by Culture Brain for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was released in North America in 1988. The game is based on the Chinese legend of a master swordsman, Chu, who must save a town from being taken over by an evil gang led by the “Drunken Hu”.
In the game, the player takes on the role of Master Chu as he travels through various levels, battling enemies with his sword and other weapons. The levels consist of side-scrolling action stages, top-down maze stages, and boss battles. In each stage, Master Chu must defeat all enemies to progress to the next level. Along the way, he can collect power-ups that increase his health or give him special abilities such as increased speed or invincibility. He also has a limited supply of bombs which can be used to destroy certain obstacles or defeat multiple enemies at once. In addition to these items, there are also bonus items that can be found throughout the game which award points or extra lives when collected.
The main goal of Master Chu and the Drunken Hu is to find and defeat all four bosses who guard each area of town before finally confronting and defeating Drunken Hu himself. Defeating bosses will grant access to new areas of town which contain more powerful weapons and items for Master Chu to use against his foes. Once all four bosses have been defeated, Master Chu will confront Drunken Hu himself in a final battle where victory will bring peace back to the town.
The gameplay in Master Chu and The Drunken Hu is fast-paced and exciting with colorful visuals and memorable sound effects making it one of the most enjoyable titles on NES at its time. Its unique blend of side-scrolling action stages with top-down maze levels gives it a unique flavor that sets it apart from other games in its genre. The variety of weapons available for collection also adds depth to its gameplay while challenging players with increasingly difficult bosses as they progress through each level.
