Jim Henson’s Muppet Adventure – Chaos at the Carnival is an action-adventure game developed by Hi Tech Expressions and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1992. It was based on the popular television show, The Muppet Show, and featured characters from that series. Players take control of Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Miss Piggy and Scooter as they attempt to restore order to a carnival gone awry.

The story begins when the carnival comes to town and all of the Muppets are excited to visit it. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned when they arrive at the carnival and find it in disarray. The evil Dr. Grump has taken over and put his minions in charge of running things. It’s up to the Muppets to put an end to Grump’s reign of terror and restore order to the carnival.

Players must guide their chosen character through five levels filled with enemies such as robots, ghosts, clowns and more. Each level consists of multiple stages where players must collect items such as tickets or keys while avoiding obstacles like pits or enemies shooting fireballs at them. The goal of each level is to reach its end without losing all of your lives. Along the way there are also bonus stages where players can earn extra points by shooting targets or playing mini-games like pinball or whack-a-mole.

The gameplay is similar to other action-adventure games on NES such as Super Mario Bros., but with a few unique twists thanks to its license from The Muppet Show. For example, instead of jumping on enemies like Mario does in his adventures, here you can use special attacks depending on which character you have chosen (Kermit throws pies while Animal smashes things). Additionally, each character has their own unique abilities that can be used for puzzle solving or reaching new areas within levels (Gonzo can fly while Fozzie uses his hat as a parachute).

At the end of each stage players will face off against one of Dr Grump’s minions who must be defeated in order for progress to be made through the game world. Defeating these bosses requires careful timing and strategy since they often have powerful attacks that must be avoided before they can be defeated. Once all five levels are completed then players will face off against Dr Grump himself in a final showdown that will determine if order is restored or chaos reigns supreme!

Overall Jim Henson’s Muppet Adventure – Chaos at the Carnival is an enjoyable action-adventure game that captures much of what makes The Muppet Show so beloved even today. With its challenging levels full of foes to defeat and puzzles to solve it provides plenty of entertainment for fans both old and young alike!
