Ganbare Goemon! – Karakuri Douchuu is a side-scrolling action-adventure game developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1986. It is the first installment in the Ganbare Goemon series, which has since gone on to become one of the most popular franchises in Japan. The game follows two protagonists, Goemon and Ebisumaru, as they embark on an epic quest to save their homeland from the evil Zukin Clan.

The story begins with the Zukin Clan invading Edo Castle, whereupon Goemon and Ebisumaru are sent out to investigate. After learning of their wicked plan to enslave all of Japan, our heroes set off on a quest to prevent them from succeeding. As you progress through each stage you can find coins which can be used to purchase items at various shops throughout the game world. You can also collect power up items such as bombs or throwing stars that give you access to special attacks during boss fights or other tough encounters.
