Dragon Spirit: The New Legend is an action-adventure game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989. Developed and published by Namco, the game follows a young warrior named Lace on a quest to save his beloved Princess Alicia from the evil Zawell. After being transformed into a dragon by an old wizard, Lace must traverse through seven different worlds and defeat Zawell’s minions before finally confronting him in a climactic battle.

The game begins as Lace and Princess Alicia are walking in the kingdom of Mitgult when they are suddenly attacked by Zawell and his minions. While Alicia is kidnapped, Lace is rescued by an old wizard who transforms him into a dragon with special powers. With these newfound abilities, Lace sets out on a quest to rescue Alicia from Zawell’s clutches.

Dragon Spirit: The New Legend features seven different worlds for players to explore. Each world consists of four stages that must be cleared before advancing to the next world. These stages feature unique enemies and obstacles that must be overcome before progressing further. In addition to shooting fireballs at enemies, players can also use their dragon’s magical breath attacks to defeat them or find hidden items such as extra lives or power-ups that will give them additional strength or speed boosts.

Throughout each stage, players must collect red orbs which act as currency for purchasing upgrades at shops found in certain levels. These upgrades include weapons like flamethrowers and ice cannons as well as armor pieces that increase defense against enemy attacks. Players can also buy items such as health potions which restore lost health points or special crystals which allow them to transform into other forms with different abilities such as flying or swimming underwater.

At the end of each world lies a boss battle against one of Zawell’s minions where players must use all their skills and collected upgrades to come out victorious. Upon defeating each boss, players will receive a key which unlocks access to another world until all seven keys have been gathered and Zawell has been confronted in his castle lair.
