Die Hard is a classic side-scrolling platformer video game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989.

It is based on the 1988 action movie of the same name and follows its plot, with players taking control of John McClane, an NYPD officer who must save his wife Holly and other hostages from the clutches of a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber.

The game was developed by Pack-In-Video Co., Ltd.

and published by Activision in North America and Europe.

The game begins with John McClane arriving at Nakatomi Plaza, where his wife Holly is being held hostage by Gruber's gang.

He must fight his way through seven floors of enemies to reach her.

The gameplay consists of running, jumping, shooting, and climbing across various platforms while avoiding or dispatching enemies.

Players begin with three lives and can earn extra lives if they reach certain points in the game or find hidden items.

There are multiple weapons to choose from, such as handguns, machine guns, grenades, bombs, and even dynamite.

Along the way there are also various power-ups that can be used to help defeat enemies or provide temporary invincibility.

The levels of Die Hard are all unique and feature plenty of hazards to navigate around or destroy in order to progress further into the game.

These include bottomless pits, electrified floors and walls, spinning blades, fireballs from cannons mounted on ceilings and walls, as well as laser beams that shoot horizontally across the screen when triggered by enemy movement or contact with a pressure plate on the floor.

Additionally there are ladders for climbing up or down between levels as well as elevators which serve as shortcuts between them.

One of Die Hard's most appealing features is its excellent soundtrack composed by Masato Nakamura that adds atmosphere to each level while also providing a fitting backdrop for battle sequences involving multiple enemies at once.

The graphics are fairly basic but still manage to capture some of the movie’s highlights such as when John uses a fire hose to slide down several stories or when he fights off two assailants at once using only a chair! Overall Die Hard is an enjoyable yet challenging action platformer that provides plenty hours of entertainment for fans of both movies and video games alike! The difficulty may put off some players but those who do take it on will find it rewarding enough to keep coming back for more! With its great soundtrack and classic 8-bit aesthetics it is sure to remain one of the best NES titles ever made!
