Destiny of an Emperor is a turn-based strategy role-playing game released by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989.
The game is set in China during the Three Kingdoms period, and follows Liu Bei, a warlord who must unite the fractured land and restore order.
Players take control of Liu Bei's forces as they battle through enemy strongholds and recruit powerful generals to their cause.
The game features a unique combat system that combines elements of both turn-based and real-time strategy, as well as a variety of political decisions that can affect the outcome of the story.
The game begins with Liu Bei receiving word from his elder brother, Guan Yu, to join him in forming an alliance against Dong Zhuo, the tyrant ruler of China.
As players progress through the story, they will encounter many legendary figures from Chinese history such as Cao Cao, Sun Jian, Zhang Fei and others.
By defeating these characters in battle or convincing them to join forces with Liu Bei’s army, players can build up their own forces to challenge Dong Zhuo’s rule.
The combat system in Destiny of an Emperor is split into two types: field battles and siege battles.
In field battles, players choose which units to deploy on each side before engaging in turn based combat using a grid based battlefield.
The units available range from regular foot soldiers to cavalry and elephants; each unit type has its own strengths and weaknesses which must be taken into account when planning strategies.
Siege battles are more strategic affairs where players must manage resources such as food supplies while also managing their troops on the battlefield.
In addition to military tactics, Destiny of an Emperor also requires players to make political decisions throughout the course of their campaign.
These decisions can have far reaching consequences; for example if you decide to ally yourself with one warlord over another it may lead to diplomatic tensions with other factions or even open conflict between them.
Similarly if you choose not to pay tribute or taxes it could lead to civil unrest within your own territories or even total rebellion against your rule! Making sure that all these elements work together seamlessly is part of what makes Destiny Of An Emperor so challenging yet rewarding at the same time.
Ultimately Destiny Of An Emperor is a classic example of how a combination of different gaming elements can create something truly unique and engaging for gamers; combining strategic warfare with political decision making creates an experience that few other games have been able to match since its release almost 30 years ago!
