Beetlejuice is a 1988 action-adventure video game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was developed and published by LJN, and based on the eponymous movie of the same name. The game features some of the characters from the movie, such as Beetlejuice himself, Lydia Deetz, Charles Deetz, and Adam Maitland.

The objective of Beetlejuice is to help Lydia and her family escape from their home in a haunted house. To do this, players must complete various tasks throughout the course of the game. These tasks include collecting items such as keys and artifacts, solving puzzles, navigating mazes and fighting enemies. Along the way, players will also come across helpful items such as health potions that can restore their health or special weapons that can be used to defeat certain enemies. There are also several mini-games scattered throughout levels which offer bonus points if completed successfully.

In terms of gameplay, Beetlejuice is an action-adventure platformer with light RPG elements. Players take control of either Beetlejuice or one of his companions (Lydia or Charles) at different parts in the game. In order to progress further into each level they must navigate through various platforms while avoiding enemies and obstacles. As they progress further into each area they will find items that allow them to gain access to previously inaccessible areas or solve puzzles necessary for progressing further into a level.

Beetlejuice also features several boss battles against large monsters at certain points during levels which require players to use strategy in order to defeat them. It also has an inventory system where players can store items found throughout their journey as well as equip weapons for use in battle against foes encountered along their travels. The game also includes both a password feature that allows players to save their progress as well as a two-player mode where two people can play cooperatively with one another on separate controllers - this feature requires both players to have a copy of the game cartridge though.

Overall Beetlejuice is an enjoyable adventure title for fans of both the movie and classic NES games alike due its combination of platforming action and RPG elements within its gameplay loop - it’s certainly worth checking out if you’re looking for something unique from your retro gaming experiences!
