Play Q*Bert Online
Q*Bert is a classic puzzle game released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1991. Developed by NMS Software, the game was an adaptation of the original arcade game that had been released nine years earlier. Players take on the role of Q*Bert, a small orange creature with a long nose and eyes that resemble those of a frog. The objective of the game is to navigate Q*Bert around various three-dimensional platforms, hopping onto each cube to change its color while avoiding enemies and hazards.
The core gameplay of Q*Bert remains largely unchanged from its original incarnation on the arcade cabinet. As players guide Q*Bert, they must hop from one cube to another in order to change its color from red to blue or vice versa. This process must be completed for every cube in order to complete each level. Along the way, players must avoid enemies such as Coily, Uggs and Wrong Way who can cause instant death if they come into contact with Q*Bert or knock him off the platform entirely. Additionally, there are other obstacles such as snakes which can be shot down using power ups located throughout each level.
The Game Boy version of Q*Bert adds several new features not found in the original arcade version including new levels, power ups and bonus rounds. The game consists of four worlds which contain eight different levels each plus two hidden bonus rounds at the end of each world. The Game Boy version also introduces some new enemies such as Slick and Sam who can only be defeated with certain power ups. Additionally, there are several hidden items scattered throughout each level which will grant extra lives or points when collected.
Q*Bert for Nintendo Game Boy was met with generally positive reviews upon release due to its faithful recreation of the classic arcade game along with its new features and additions that made it more challenging than ever before. It has since become one of the most beloved puzzle games on handheld systems and continues to receive praise from critics and fans alike many years later for its addictive gameplay and unique art style.
