Otto’s Ottifanten is a classic Nintendo Game Boy game that was released in Europe in 1995. The game was developed by German-based software company NMS Software and published by Nintendo. It follows the adventures of Otto, a friendly elephant, as he attempts to save his family from an evil witch.
The game begins with Otto’s family being kidnapped by the Witch of the Woods and taken away to her castle. It is up to Otto to rescue his family and defeat the witch. To do this, he must explore various levels filled with enemies, puzzles, and traps while gathering items that will help him on his quest. These levels are divided into five distinct worlds: the Forest of Wonders, the Desert of Dreams, the Iceberg Ocean, the Fire Volcano, and finally the Witch’s Castle. Each world contains its own unique enemies and puzzles for Otto to overcome before he can reach his family.
Players control Otto using a two-button system; one button is used for jumping and another for attacking enemies or triggering switches that open doors or activate objects in the environment. In addition to these basic abilities, players can also collect power-ups throughout each level which can be used to increase Otto’s health or attack power temporarily. As they progress through each level they will also encounter bonus stages where they can gain additional points or extra lives if they are successful in completing them.
Throughout their journey players will come across various types of enemies such as bumblebees, bats, spiders and frogs which must be defeated using either Otto’s attacks or items found within each level such as rocks and bombs. Additionally players may come across secret areas which contain special items such as extra lives or even bonus levels where they can gain even more points than usual.
Otto’s Ottifanten also includes two-player cooperative mode where two players can work together in order to complete levels faster than when playing alone. This feature allows players to share power-ups amongst themselves which can prove very beneficial when trying to defeat particularly tough bosses at the end of each world. Additionally there are several mini-games included within this mode which allow players to compete against each other in order to see who has earned the most points at the end of a stage.
Overall Otto’s Ottifanten is an enjoyable platformer for fans of classic Game Boy games that provides hours of fun with its challenging levels filled with puzzles and enemies for gamers of all ages to enjoy together cooperatively or competitively depending on their preference. With its colorful graphics and catchy soundtrack it still remains a classic title today despite being over 25 years old!
