The premise of Joe & Mac – Caveman Ninja is simple: two cavemen named Joe and Mac must save their village from a group of invading dinosaurs. The player controls one of the two characters as they traverse through numerous levels, fighting off various kinds of prehistoric enemies and rescuing their fellow villagers along the way. Each character has their own unique set of abilities; Joe can throw boomerangs while Mac can use his club to attack enemies. Each stage contains several levels filled with platforms, obstacles, collectibles, and enemies that must be defeated in order to progress further. In addition to this, each stage also features its own boss fight at the end which must be defeated in order to move on. After completing all stages, players are rewarded with an ending sequence depending on how many points they have accumulated throughout their journey.
