The series is based on a virtual world that consists of a number of different levels, each with its own unique set of obstacles and enemies to overcome.
Players take control of one of several characters, who must find their way through the various stages in order to progress.
The original version of Cool World was released for the Game Boy in 1992 and featured two main protagonists: Ray and Kyo.
In this version, players could explore 8 different worlds and face off against various enemies using Ray's sword or Kyo's gun.
The game also featured power-ups such as coins and stars which could be used to purchase items from shops located in certain levels.
A sequel titled Cool World 2 was released for the Game Boy Color in 1998.
This version introduced four new playable characters - Hiroya, Maki, Goro, and Chihiro - along with additional levels and enemies to battle.
The third installment in the series was released for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) in 2002 under the title Cool World 3: Mission Impossibru! This version included five new worlds to explore, each with their own unique set of challenges and objectives that needed to be completed before progressing further into the game.
Additionally, this release also contained an extra mode called 'Mission Impossibru!' which presented an even greater challenge by requiring players to complete all eight worlds without losing any lives during their journey.
In 2004, Hudson Soft released another installment for the GBA entitled Cool World 4: Final Fantasy Edition which combined elements from both previous versions as well as introducing some brand new features like a multiplayer mode where up to four players could compete against each other simultaneously over a wireless connection.
This release also included special bonus items like weapons and armor upgrades that could be unlocked throughout the course of playtime.
The fifth installment in the franchise was released for Nintendo DS in 2006 under the name Cool World 5: The Last Stand!.
This version featured seven new worlds filled with puzzles and traps that had to be navigated before reaching their ultimate destination - The Last Stand! Here players had to face off against powerful bosses while employing strategic tactics if they wanted any chance at success.
Additionally, this release also included an unlockable bonus level where players could fight against each other using various weapons found throughout their quest.
Overall, The Cool World series has become an iconic part of gaming history due its interesting gameplay mechanics as well as its memorable characters and settings across multiple platforms over several decades now - making it one of Nintendo's longest running franchises ever created!
