Star Wars: Episode I – Obi-Wan’s Adventures is an action/adventure game developed by Factor 5 and published by LucasArts for the Nintendo Game Boy Color. It was released in Europe on December 15, 2000, and in North America on April 23, 2001. The game follows the events of the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace from Obi-Wan Kenobi’s point of view.
The player takes control of a young Obi-Wan Kenobi as he embarks on a quest to protect Queen Amidala from the Trade Federation’s droid army. Throughout his journey, Obi-Wan must battle various foes including droidekas, battle droids, Sith troopers and even Darth Maul himself. The game also features elements of puzzle solving as players search for hidden items such as power ups and weapons to help them progress through the game.
Obi-Wan’s Adventures offers two distinct modes of play; a single player mode where the player controls Obi-Wan directly; and an arena mode where they can take on enemies in one-on-one battles. In both modes, Obi-Wan is able to use a variety of weapons including his lightsaber and blaster pistol. He can also make use of Force powers such as Force Push and Force Pull to manipulate objects or disable enemies temporarily. In addition to these abilities, players may also find helpful items scattered around levels which can be used to heal themselves or provide extra protection against attacks.
Star Wars: Episode I – Obi-Wan’s Adventures features several levels set in locations from the movie such as Mos Espa, Tatooine Desert and Coruscant Cityscape. Each level contains numerous enemies which must be defeated before progressing further into the game. Collectible items are also present throughout each level which can be used to purchase power ups such as health packs or new weapons at shops located throughout levels.
The graphics in Star Wars: Episode I – Obi-Wan’s Adventures are simple but effective with sprites being used to represent characters within the game world while colorful backgrounds help bring life to each level explored by Obi Wan during his adventure. The sound effects are also fairly basic but still manage to capture some of the franchise’s signature noises such as laser fire and lightsabers clashing together during battles between characters within the game world.
Overall Star Wars: Episode I – Obi-Wans Adventures is a great action/adventure title for those looking for something different from traditional platformers available on Game Boy Color at that time period. Its simple yet engaging gameplay combined with its unique setting makes it an enjoyable experience even today despite its age..
