Atlantis: The Lost Empire is an action-adventure game released for the Game Boy Color in 2001.
Developed by Eurocom and published by THQ, it was based on the Disney animated film of the same name.
The player takes control of Milo Thatch, a scholar who leads an expedition to find the lost city of Atlantis.
Along the way, he must battle enemies, solve puzzles, and explore various areas of the city.
The game begins with Milo receiving a mysterious package containing a diary written by his grandfather, which tells of an ancient civilization that existed beneath the sea thousands of years ago.
After deciphering some clues from the diary, Milo sets out with a team of adventurers to find Atlantis and prove his grandfather's theories correct.
Along the way, they come across many obstacles including fierce battles against monsters and robots controlled by Atlantean technology.
Players must guide Milo through various levels which range from underwater locations to ruins on land.
In each level, they must navigate their way around traps and hazards while battling enemies using Milo's weapons such as his grappling hook or bombs.
As players progress through each stage, they will discover new items that can be used to help them complete their mission.
These items include keys to unlock doors and switches to activate hidden pathways.
In addition to these items, there are also power-ups scattered throughout the levels that can increase Milo’s health or give him special abilities such as double jumps or increased speed.
Throughout their journey, players will encounter several characters from the movie such as Helga Sinclair and Kida Nedakh who offer assistance in certain parts of the game.
There are also mini-games available at certain points that allow players to win extra lives or bonus items if completed successfully.
After completing all levels in a given area, players will face off against powerful bosses before being able to move onto another area of Atlantis or eventually reach its core where they must confront its ruler – King Rourke – in order to save it from destruction and uncover its secrets once and for all! Overall, Atlantis: The Lost Empire offers an exciting adventure full of challenging puzzles and intense battles against formidable foes that fans of both Disney movies and action-adventure games are sure to enjoy!
