Pokémon Ruby is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It was released in Japan on November 21, 2002, in North America on March 17, 2003, and in Europe on July 25, 2003. It is the third installment of the Pokémon series and a remake of Pokémon Red and Blue. The story follows protagonist Ash Ketchum as he embarks on a journey to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Along his journey, he must battle gym leaders, collect badges, catch wild Pokémon, trade with other trainers and ultimately defeat the Elite Four at the Indigo Plateau.
The game takes place in Hoenn region which is composed of three islands connected by bridges. The player starts out their journey from the city of Littleroot Town. From there they can travel to many different cities such as Petalburg City which contains a gym leader specialized in Normal-type Pokémon or Rustboro City where trainers are challenged by Rock-type specialists. As players progress through the game they will encounter various characters that help them along their way like Professor Birch who gives players their first Pokémon or Team Aqua who have sinister plans for Hoenn’s environment and its inhabitants.
Pokémon Ruby features several new additions from previous games including two-on-two battles which allow two players to control one team each during battle or double battles where four players control two teams each. There are also new types of items such as berries which can be used to heal or boost stats of a Pokémon and Pokéblocks which can be used to increase certain stats when fed to a Pokémon before entering contests. Additionally, players can now use Dive mode while underwater so they can explore sunken ships and collect rare items like fossils that can be revived into ancient Pokémon species or evolutionary stones that let certain Pokémon evolve into stronger forms.
Players will also be able to capture all 386 species of existing Pokémon including some exclusive ones found exclusively in Ruby version like Castform which changes form depending on weather conditions or Beldum who evolves into Metang after being traded with another player. Throughout their adventure they will encounter wild Pokemon that appear randomly while walking around grassy areas as well as powerful Legendary Pokemon who require special strategies in order to successfully capture them all.
Pokémon Ruby not only allows players to become the greatest trainer but also provides an unforgettable experience filled with exciting adventures and intense battles against other trainers all over Hoenn region. With its unique features and vast amount of content available it stands out among other entries of the series making it an absolute must-have for any fan of Pokemon games!
