Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is a turn-based strategy role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) handheld system. It was released in Japan on October 7, 2004, and in North America on May 23, 2005. It is the eighth installment in the Fire Emblem series and the second title to be released for the GBA. The game follows two protagonists, Eirika and Ephraim, as they battle against an evil empire that seeks to take control of their homeland.
The game’s story focuses on Eirika and Ephraim, twins from Renais who were sent away from their home after it was invaded by Grado. The pair soon find themselves embroiled in a conflict between Grado and its rivals Frelia and Rausten. As they journey across Magvel to reunite with their family, they discover that Grado has been corrupted by an ancient evil force known as “the Demon King”. To save their homeland, Eirika and Ephraim must seek out five magical stones known as “Sacred Stones” scattered across Magvel. Along the way, they must also recruit allies to join them on their quest and battle against powerful enemies such as monsters, bandits, knights, mages, and dragons.
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones features a variety of gameplay elements typical of Fire Emblem games such as tactical turn-based battles on grid-based maps; weapon durability; items that can be used to heal or upgrade characters; support conversations between characters; class promotions; branching story paths based on player choices; permanent death of playable characters; support bonuses between characters; multiple endings depending on certain conditions being met during gameplay; secret shops where rare items can be purchased; hidden weapons that can be found throughout the adventure; optional sidequests with unique rewards; an arena mode where players can fight against enemy teams for experience points or money rewards; downloadable content via wireless connection or e-Reader cards; and more.
The game also introduces several new features not seen in previous Fire Emblem titles including bonus levels where players can earn extra experience points or gold pieces depending on how well they perform during those levels; a weapon triangle system which affects combat performance when certain types of weapons are used against one another (swords beat axes, axes beat lances, lances beat swords); a skill system which allows players to customize each character’s abilities with different skills that can be learned through battle or purchased at stores throughout the world map; a world map that reveals locations of towns or dungeons when explored with a cursor instead of allowing players to move freely around it like past entries in the series have done before it ; a “rescuing” feature which allows players to save fallen allies from enemies during battle by paying gold pieces for them to return alive once defeated instead of having them die permanently like previous titles had done up until this point ; an improved artificial intelligence system for enemy units which makes them respond better to strategies used by players during combat than what was seen in earlier games ; among other additions.
Overall Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is an excellent turn-based strategy role playing game filled with many exciting features both old and new alike that make it stand out among other entries in the Fire Emblem series while still retaining all of its classic elements at heart. Not only will fans find hours upon hours worth of entertainment here but newcomers will also appreciate what this title has to offer as well making it an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a great GBA game experience!
