Power Monger is a real-time strategy game released for the Sega CD, or Mega-CD as it was known in Europe and Japan, in 1994. Developed by Bullfrog Productions and published by Electronic Arts, Power Monger is set in a world of fantasy where players take control of a small tribe of people. The main objective of the game is to grow your tribe into an empire and ultimately become the most powerful ruler across the entire world.
Gameplay involves managing your tribe’s resources such as food, wood, stone, iron and gold. These resources are used to construct buildings, hire troops and expand your territory. As your population grows you will be able to build more advanced structures such as farms, mines and fortresses that can help defend against enemy attacks. You will also be able to hire priests to spread religion throughout your kingdom as well as merchants who can trade goods with other tribes.
The game features a variety of different maps which change based on how you choose to play the game. As you progress through the game you will uncover new technologies that can be researched in order to improve your tribe’s efficiency and production levels. You must also deal with rival tribes who may attack or try to negotiate treaties with you depending on their own goals.
Victory is achieved by either wiping out all other tribes from the map or conquering all enemy capitals within a certain period of time. Power Monger features multiple difficulty levels which affect how quickly a player progresses through the game as well as how challenging enemies become during combat sequences.
Overall, Power Monger offers an exciting strategy experience with plenty of depth and replayability due to its various gameplay elements such as resource management, researchable technologies and combat encounters. Fans of real-time strategy games should definitely give this classic title a try if they haven’t already!
