In this game, you take on the role of a member of ACME Detective Agency and your goal is to catch Carmen Sandiego and her gang of V.I.L.E (Villains International League of Evil) members before they can steal artifacts from around the world.

The game starts off with a briefing from Chief who gives you information about your mission and assigns you to one of four regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, or North America. Your job is to find out where Carmen and her gang are located and then travel there to apprehend them. You will need to search each region for clues which will eventually lead you to Carmen's hideout. Along the way, you will also have to answer questions related to geography and culture in order to gain access to certain areas or obtain more information about your suspects.

During your investigation, you will be able to visit various locations around each region such as museums, libraries, markets, etc., where you can speak with locals who may have valuable information about your suspects' whereabouts or activities. You'll also be given various tasks such as searching for missing artifacts or escorting tourists around town that help progress the story further. As you complete these tasks successfully, Chief will reward you with credits which can be used at local shops to purchase items like maps or binoculars which can help with your investigation later on.

Throughout this adventure, players must stay one step ahead of Carmen by using their deductive skills and knowledge of geography in order to locate her hideouts before time runs out! If successful, players will be rewarded with an arrest warrant for Carmen Sandiego which can then be used at any police station worldwide in order to capture her once and for all!
