Virtual Bart is a video game released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console in 1994. It was developed and published by Acclaim Entertainment and was based on the popular animated television series, The Simpsons. The game follows the mischievous adventures of Bart Simpson, as he finds himself inside a virtual reality simulator and must complete various tasks to escape.
The game consists of seven levels, each with a unique theme. In each level, Bart must find his way through an obstacle course while avoiding enemies and collecting items such as coins and power-ups. Along the way, he will encounter several familiar characters from the show, including his sister Lisa, Krusty the Clown, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, and others. As Bart progresses through each level, he will also have to face off against bosses such as Sideshow Bob and Mr. Burns.
Bart's health is measured in hearts; as he takes damage from enemies or falls into traps, his health decreases until it reaches zero at which point he loses a life. If all lives are lost then it's game over! Fortunately there are plenty of ways to restore health throughout the levels such as collecting power-ups or finding food items like donuts or pretzels.
The graphics in Virtual Bart are quite good for its time; colorful sprites bring Springfield to life with vibrant colors that capture the look of the show perfectly. The music is also well done; upbeat tunes accompany each level that fit its theme nicely while still managing to be catchy enough to stick in your head after you've finished playing.
Overall Virtual Bart is an enjoyable platformer that captures the spirit of The Simpsons cartoon quite well. While some may find its difficulty a bit too high at times it's still very playable and provides plenty of entertainment value for those looking for some classic 16-bit fun! Whether you're a fan of The Simpsons or just someone looking for an old school platformer experience this game has something for everyone!
