T2: The Arcade Game is a classic side-scrolling action platformer for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Developed by Technosoft and published by Sega in 1993, it was released as part of the "Sega Classics" series. The game is based on the 1991 movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and features digitized sprites of some of its actors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick.
The game's story follows that of the film closely. The player takes control of John Connor, who must fight his way through various levels to save Sarah Connor from Skynet's forces. Along the way he must battle a variety of enemies including Terminators, giant robots and human soldiers. He also has to collect items to help him in his quest such as power-ups and weapons.
Gameplay consists mostly of running and jumping through each level while shooting enemies with your weapon. As you progress you will encounter obstacles such as pits or bottomless pits which need to be avoided or jumped over. You'll also find doors that can be opened with keys you acquire throughout each stage. These doors lead to bonus stages where additional points can be earned or weapons upgraded if certain requirements are met.
The graphics in T2: The Arcade Game are quite good for a 16-bit console title; the levels are detailed and colorful, while the characters move smoothly across the screen without any noticeable slowdowns or glitches. The music is also quite good; a catchy techno soundtrack plays during each stage which helps set the tone for each level.
Overall T2: The Arcade Game is an enjoyable game that will appeal to both fans of the movie series as well as those just looking for an entertaining action platformer on their Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console. It features tight controls, varied levels, great graphics and sound, plus multiple endings depending on your performance throughout the game's stages making it an overall great experience for anyone looking for a fun time with their Sega console!
