Stormlord is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Hewson Consultants and released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1989. The game follows the story of a brave warrior, known as the Stormlord, who must save his people from an evil witch. The player takes control of the Stormlord and must traverse through various levels filled with enemies, traps, and puzzles in order to reach the witch's castle and defeat her.
The game features five different worlds, each with its own unique set of levels. The first world is called "The Forest" and consists of four levels. In this world, the player must navigate through forests filled with trees, rocks, and other obstacles while avoiding or defeating enemies such as bats, spiders, and snakes. The second world is called "The Cave" and consists of three levels. Here the player must make their way through underground caverns while avoiding or defeating enemies such as trolls and giant spiders. The third world is called "The Castle" and consists of four levels. Here the player must make their way through a castle filled with traps such as spikes, pits, and moving platforms while avoiding or defeating enemies such as knights and dragons. The fourth world is called "The Tower" and consists of three levels. Here the player must make their way up a tower while avoiding or defeating enemies such as ghosts and gargoyles. Finally, the fifth world is called "The Witch's Lair" which consists of one level where the player must face off against the witch herself in order to save his people from her evil spell.
In addition to navigating through each level's obstacles and enemies, players can also collect power-ups that will help them on their quest. These power-ups include extra lives, invincibility stars that allow them to take more damage before dying, shields that protect them from enemy attacks for a short period of time, speed boots that increase their running speed temporarily, fireballs that can be used to defeat certain enemies from afar, keys that open locked doors leading to bonus stages where they can earn extra points or items needed to progress further in the game; among others.
Overall Stormlord is an enjoyable platformer with challenging yet rewarding gameplay mechanics that will keep players coming back for more! With its vibrant visuals combined with its catchy soundtrack it’s easy to see why this classic title has remained popular over 30 years later!
