Along the way there are several power-ups that can be collected which provide temporary boosts to speed or acceleration or even invincibility for a limited time period.

In addition to single player mode Monster Truck Wars also features two-player split screen multiplayer mode allowing two players to race against each other on one console at once. This adds an extra level of competition as both players must compete with each other while trying to avoid all obstacles placed in their path if they wish to win the race.
