Super Star Wars is a video game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992. The game was developed and published by Lucasarts and was based on the original Star Wars movie trilogy. Players take control of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia as they battle their way through the Galactic Empire.
The game starts off with Luke’s mission to rescue Princess Leia from Darth Vader aboard the Death Star. It then continues with his journey to Dagobah to learn the ways of the Force from Yoda, and then onto Cloud City where he must save Han Solo from Boba Fett. The game then culminates in a final showdown between Luke and Darth Vader in the Emperor’s throne room on the second Death Star.
The gameplay of Super Star Wars is an action-adventure side-scroller that requires players to fight their way through hordes of enemies while solving puzzles, collecting items and unlocking new levels. The game also features a variety of power-ups such as health packs, extra lives and bonus points which can be used to purchase weapons and upgrades for each character. Players can also switch between characters at any time during play which allows them to access different parts of each level depending on who is chosen.
In addition to its single-player mode, Super Star Wars also includes a two-player co-op mode which allows players to team up against enemy forces together. This mode adds an extra layer of challenge as both players must work together in order to progress through each level successfully.
Super Star Wars was well received upon its release due to its high quality graphics, sound effects and music score which all accurately recreated scenes from the original movie trilogy. The game has since been re-released multiple times on various platforms including Virtual Console for Wii U, PlayStation Network for PS3 and Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 making it one of the most widely available games based on the franchise today.
