Developed by Ocean Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment, the game was released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game follows the events of the first two films, with players taking control of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh as they battle against a criminal organization known as The Syndicate.
The main objective in Lethal Weapon is to complete levels by exploring various locations while completing objectives such as rescuing hostages and apprehending suspects. As they progress through each level, players must also collect items such as weapons and ammo to help them in their mission. The game features several different types of enemies such as mobsters, thugs, police officers and even dogs that will attack the player if provoked. In order to defeat these enemies, players must use their weapons effectively or else risk being overwhelmed.
Players are also able to interact with various objects in each level including doors that can be opened or locked depending on whether or not they have acquired a key from somewhere else in the level. There are also several mini-games scattered throughout each level which allow players to gain extra points or bonuses when completed successfully.
Lethal Weapon for SNES has been praised for its unique gameplay mechanics and detailed graphics that remain impressive even today. The game’s soundtrack was composed by legendary composer Tim Follin who created an upbeat score that perfectly fits the action-packed atmosphere of the game. Overall, Lethal Weapon is considered one of the best games released for SNES due to its engaging story and challenging gameplay that still stands up today after more than 25 years since its initial release.
