Oeka Kids - Anpanman no Hiragana Daisuki is a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) educational game released in Japan in 1989. The game is based on the popular Japanese anime character, Anpanman and was part of the Oeka Kids series of educational games developed by Taito.
The aim of the game is to help children learn hiragana, one of the two syllabaries used in Japanese writing. There are three different modes of play; Easy Mode, Normal Mode and Hard Mode. In each mode, players must match hiragana characters with their corresponding English words or objects. For example, in Easy Mode players must match hiragana characters with pictures of objects such as animals or fruits. In Normal Mode they must match hiragana characters with English words and in Hard Mode they must match hiragana characters with English sentences. Players are given three chances to correctly answer each question before the round ends and points are deducted for incorrect answers.
Players progress through the levels by completing rounds successfully and collecting stars along the way. When all stars have been collected, players can then move on to the next level where they will find more challenging questions. As they progress through the levels, new characters from Anpanman’s world appear including Dokin-chan and Baikin-man who offer helpful hints when needed. As well as helping to teach children how to read and write hiragana, this game also helps them develop their memory skills as well as their problem solving abilities.
The visuals and sound effects add an extra dimension to this educational game making it both entertaining and enjoyable for young learners while providing them with a fun way to learn about one of Japan’s writing systems. Oeka Kids - Anpanman no Hiragana Daisuki is an excellent educational tool for young learners which offers a unique approach to teaching hiragana while providing hours of fun at the same time!
