Mobile Suit Z Gundam - Hot Scramble is a sidescrolling shooter video game developed by NCS Masaya and published for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. The game is based on the popular anime series Mobile Suit Z Gundam, which follows the adventures of protagonist Kamille Bidan as he pilots a mobile suit to fight against an evil empire.
The player takes control of Kamille in his mobile suit, known as “Zeta Gundam”, and must battle their way through various levels against enemy forces. The game starts with training mode, where players can practice shooting down enemies and learn how to navigate the stages. After completing training mode, they will be taken to the main mission screen where they can select from five different levels to play. Each level consists of multiple stages, with each stage consisting of several waves of enemies that must be defeated before progressing further. The goal is to reach the end of each level and defeat the boss at the end in order to move on to the next one.
Players have access to a range of weapons and power-ups throughout the game which can help them in their battles. These include lasers, missiles and bombs which are used to shoot down enemies or destroy objects such as walls or barriers blocking progress. Power-ups also appear randomly during gameplay which give bonuses such as extra health points or additional weapons. In addition, there are various secrets hidden throughout each level which can be discovered by exploring carefully – these often give access to bonus items or areas which can help players progress further into the game.
The game features colorful graphics and detailed sprite animations for characters and enemies alike, giving it a distinct anime feel that fans of the series will appreciate. The soundtrack also features memorable tunes from the anime series, making it even more authentic to its source material. While not particularly difficult compared with other NES titles, Mobile Suit Z Gundam - Hot Scramble offers an enjoyable challenge for fans of both classic shooters and anime alike.
