Gun.Smoke is an action-packed side scrolling shooter released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985. Developed by Capcom, the game follows a cowboy named Billy Bob on his mission to take down a band of ruthless outlaws and their leader, the notorious "Big Boss". The player must traverse a variety of terrains while shooting enemies with a six-shooter or dynamite and dodging obstacles such as cacti, rocks, and even tornadoes.
The game begins with Billy Bob entering a small frontier town where he meets up with his partner, John Estes. After speaking with Estes, Billy Bob is informed that the Big Boss and his gang have been terrorizing the townspeople and stealing their money. As soon as Billy Bob sets out to find them, he must battle wave after wave of outlaws who are all trying to stop him from completing his mission. The first few levels are set in the desert where players must dodge cacti and shoot at bandits with their six-shooter or dynamite. As players progress further into the game, they will encounter more difficult terrain such as mountain passes and underground caves that require careful platforming skills in order to avoid falling off ledges or being crushed by boulders. In addition to these hazards, players will also come across various power ups such as extra health points or faster firing speed which can help them survive against tougher foes.
Each level culminates in a showdown between Billy Bob and one of the Big Boss’ henchmen that can only be defeated by shooting them several times. Once all of the henchmen have been defeated, players will face off against Big Boss himself in an epic final battle that is sure to test even seasoned gamers’ skills. Upon defeating him, players are treated to an ending sequence that pays tribute to classic western films before returning them back to the title screen where they can begin their adventure anew.
Overall Gun Smoke is an excellent example of classic NES gaming at its finest; offering intense action packed gameplay along with challenging platforming elements that require quick reflexes and precise aiming abilities from its players. With its intense gunfights and thrilling boss battles, Gun Smoke is sure to provide hours of entertainment for both casual gamers looking for some lighthearted fun or hardcore fans looking for a challenge from long ago days gone by!
