Pac-Attack is a classic puzzle video game from the 1990s that was released for the Nintendo Game Boy.
The game was developed by Namco and published by Bandai in 1994.
It was later ported to various other platforms, including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, PC Engine, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn.
The objective of Pac-Attack is simple: to clear the screen of blocks before they reach the top.
Players control Pac-Man, who can move left or right while pushing colored blocks in order to create horizontal rows of three or more like-colored blocks.
When such a row is created, it will disappear and all blocks above it will move down and fill in the gap.
If a row of four or more like-colored blocks is created, it will cause a chain reaction that will clear multiple lines at once.
Pac-Attack also features several power ups that can help players progress through the levels.
The most useful power up is “Super Pac”, which allows Pac-Man to push two columns of blocks instead of just one.
There are also “Mystery” items that can be collected for bonus points and extra lives.
Additionally, each level has a time limit; if you don't clear all the blocks before time runs out you lose a life.
The game includes six different worlds with ten levels each, making for sixty total levels in all versions of Pac-Attack (the Super NES version has an additional secret world with ten levels).
Each world introduces new enemies such as ghosts and bats that try to prevent you from completing the level by pushing blocks around on their own or eating away at your score if they touch Pac-Man directly.
Pac-Attack also features multiplayer options for up to four players on various compatible consoles (including split screen).
In this mode players compete against each other to see who can clear their screen first by creating rows of three or more like colored blocks (or forming chains of four or more).
This mode can be quite frantic and exciting as players race against each other while trying not to get eaten by enemies! Overall, Pac-Attack remains one of the classic puzzle games from its era due to its simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics and colorful visuals.
The addition of power ups and enemy characters added some variety as well as an extra layer of challenge for experienced gamers looking for something new and exciting in their puzzle games experience.
Even today, after over two decades since its initial release date, Pac Attack still stands out as one of the best puzzle games ever made!
