Home Alone is a classic Nintendo Game Boy game that was released in 1990.
It’s a platformer game where you play as the character of Kevin McCallister, who is left home alone after his family accidentally leaves him behind during their vacation.
The goal of the game is to protect the house from burglars while collecting items and avoiding traps.
The player starts off by exploring the interior of Kevin's house, trying to find items such as pizza, soda, tools and other things that can help him in his quest.
He must also deal with various traps set up by the burglars such as paint cans rolling down stairs or chandeliers crashing down from above.
As he progresses through the game, Kevin will be able to upgrade his weapons and gain access to new areas of his house including the attic and basement.
As Kevin explores his house he'll come across some friendly faces such as Old Man Marley who helps him out in times of need, but also some not-so-friendly ones like Harry and Marv - AKA The Wet Bandits - who are out to rob the place blind! To overcome these obstacles Kevin must use cunning and strategy to stay one step ahead of them and ultimately succeed in defending his home.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Home Alone is its humorous script which features plenty of jokes and gags throughout the game.
There are also plenty of references to other films from this era such as E.T., Ghostbusters and The Goonies which adds an extra layer of nostalgia for those old enough to remember them! The graphics are quite basic but still manage to capture the atmosphere well with detailed sprites for characters, enemies and objects alike.
The music too has a very distinct sound that fits perfectly with each stage - particularly memorable is when Kevin first enters Old Man Marley’s house which has a very creepy tone about it! Overall Home Alone is an enjoyable experience which will bring back fond memories for long time fans or introduce a new generation to one of Nintendo’s classic titles.
With great level design, fun gameplay mechanics and an iconic soundtrack it’s easy to see why this game has endured over time and remains a timeless classic on Nintendo’s handheld console range!
