Super Mario Advance 2 is a 2002 platform game released for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. It is an enhanced remake of the 1992 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) title Super Mario World, and was released as part of the Super Mario Advance series. The game includes all the levels from its predecessor, in addition to a new level featuring Yoshi and Baby Bowser. The game also features several minigames that can be unlocked by collecting coins or completing certain objectives in the main game.
The story of Super Mario Advance 2 follows Mario and Luigi as they travel to Dinosaur Land to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser. As with all other games in the Super Mario series, players must navigate through a variety of levels, defeating enemies and collecting coins along the way. In addition to their traditional jump and stomp moves, players can use power-ups such as mushrooms, fire flowers, stars, and shells to help them progress through the levels. Each level contains multiple exits which can be used to access hidden areas or shortcuts.
In addition to the main campaign mode, players can participate in a variety of mini-games by collecting coins during levels or completing certain objectives within them. These include races against Yoshi or Baby Bowser on various tracks around Dinosaur Land; battles against enemies such as Koopa Troopas; target practice with Bob-ombs; shooting galleries where players must shoot targets using shells; and fishing contests where they must catch fish using their fishing rod. Players can also unlock additional characters such as Wario and Waluigi by completing specific tasks within each level or mini-game.
Super Mario Advance 2 received generally positive reviews upon release, with critics praising its graphics and audio quality as well as its replay value due to its plethora of secrets and unlockables. The game has since gone on to become one of the best-selling titles for the Game Boy Advance system, selling over 4 million copies worldwide since its release in 2002.
