Ripto has stolen all four fireflies that provide heat and light to the Dragon Realms, plunging them into darkness and cold. It is up to Spyro to recover the fireflies and restore warmth to the realms.

The gameplay in Spyro 2: Season of Flame is similar to that of its predecessor; players explore various levels while collecting gems and completing various tasks such as rescuing animals or defeating enemies.
