Orbital is an action-puzzle game released for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in 2004. Developed by Digital Eclipse, it was one of the first games to make use of the GBA’s tilt sensor, allowing players to tilt the handheld to control their character. The game has a unique art style which mixes 2D and 3D elements, creating a unique visual experience.
The goal of Orbital is to help an alien robot named Arlo escape from a dangerous space station. The player takes control of Arlo and must navigate through various levels while avoiding enemies and obstacles. Each stage consists of several rooms filled with puzzles that require quick thinking and precise timing in order to progress. To move Arlo around, the player tilts the GBA left or right, causing him to roll along walls and ceilings. Tilt too far in one direction and he will fall off the edge and die; tilt too little and he won’t be able to reach his destination before time runs out.
In addition to controlling Arlo with the tilt sensor, players can also use buttons on the GBA’s faceplate. These buttons allow players to activate switches, rotate objects, and pick up power-ups scattered throughout the stages. Power-ups come in many forms such as speed boosts, extra lives, invincibility stars, bombs which destroy walls or enemies, or even a jetpack which allows Arlo to fly over obstacles for a limited time.
Each level ends with a boss battle against one of four powerful robots called “The Guardians” who have been sent by an unknown force intent on destroying Arlo’s home world. In order to defeat these bosses players must use their wits as well as their reflexes since each boss has its own unique attack patterns that must be avoided or countered appropriately in order for Arlo to survive.
Orbital offers hours of challenging gameplay that rewards quick thinking and careful planning as you make your way through each stage while trying not to get killed by The Guardians or run out of time before reaching your destination! With its unique art style and intuitive controls Orbital is sure to provide hours of entertainment for anyone looking for something new on their Game Boy Advance!
