Reception
Madden NFL 2004 received generally positive reviews upon release with many critics praising its improved gameplay mechanics and visuals compared to previous entries in the series while others noted its lack of innovation compared to other sports titles available at that time such as ESPN NBA Basketball or FIFA Soccer 2004 Edition (GameCube). The game was praised for its improved control scheme allowing users greater freedom when controlling their teams on offense or defense as well as its depth due to its wide variety of gameplay modes available such as Tournament Mode or Franchise Mode which allowed users greater control over how they wanted their team’s dynasty to progress over multiple seasons. The game sold over 800 thousand copies worldwide making it one of the best selling games on the Game Boy Advance console at that time.
