Kao the Kangaroo is a platform video game developed by Tate Interactive and published by XS Games for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. The game was released in Europe in 2002 and in North America in 2003. It was later re-released on GOG.com in 2016.

The story follows Kao, a young kangaroo who has been kidnapped by the evil hunter Kane and taken to his island home of Kalazar. With the help of his friends Bongo the monkey and Toby the turtle, Kao must travel across six different worlds to find his way back home. Along the way he must battle enemies such as robots, aliens and monsters while collecting items that will help him progress through each level.

Kao the Kangaroo features nine levels with three bonus stages which can be unlocked after completing certain objectives. The levels are split into two parts: exploration and action-based gameplay. During exploration sections players must solve puzzles to progress while action-based gameplay requires Kao to use his boxing gloves to defeat enemies or collect items like coins or health power ups. Players can also use special moves such as tail whips or spin kicks to take out enemies more quickly.

The Game Boy Advance version includes all of the same features as its console counterparts but also includes exclusive content such as mini-games that can be accessed during specific levels.
